Graduation Trip to Thailand! (Day 1 and 2)

27 April 2019 – 4 May 2019 | Bangkok; Krabi, Thailand

Day 1: Pratunam, Bangkok

This long awaited day has finally come, and the 6 of us gathered at Changi Airport Terminal 2 at 2pm, thrilled to begin our grad trip right after finals.

We took Singapore Airlines SQ976 from Singapore to Bangkok. During the 2 hours flight, we were served with lunch.

There’s two options: 1. Fish and potatoes 2. Chicken rice. I opted for the latter.

We touched down at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport around 5.30pm, and after picking up our luggage, we headed to KLOOK counter to retrieve our SIM cards. We then head back to the arrival hall to find our airport pick-up to send us to our hotel.

For our first night in Bangkok, we stayed at Budacco Hotel. As there were 6 of us, we paired up and split into 3 rooms. Personal rating: 7/10 . Hotel staff are friendly, the room is quite spacious and clean. However, the downside is that the lobby is quite cram, and there’s only one elevator that goes up to the 7th floor only. As we stayed at the 8th floor, we have to get down at the 7th floor and climb a flight of stairs to get to our room. Luckily, the hotel staff helped to carry all 6 of our luggage up to our room.

Deluxe Room for 2

After settling ourselves down in the hotel room, we then head to our only stop for the night for dinner and shopping, which is Neon Night Market/Talad Neon, that is 10-15 minutes walk away from our hotel.

We then head back to our hotel to recharge for the next day.

Day 2: Chatuchak, Bangkok & Aonang, Krabi

We begin our day by having hotel breakfast before heading to Chatuchak Weekend Market.

Hotel Breakfast

After filling up our tummies, we took a 7 seater taxi to Chatuchak Weekend Market.

JJ is the only one in the group who brought a portable fan from home, and as the weather starts to get unbearably hot, the rest of us followed suit and went to get a 100 baht portable fan. Now, all of us carries one in our hand while shopping.

The sweat, sore legs, and insane 35 degrees weather that feels like 40 degrees drew us to a cafe to rest before carrying on shopping again.

Strawberry Soda

After shopping for awhile more, we stop by a random food stall for lunch.

Chicken Pad Thai (one of the best Pad Thai I’ve eaten)

As we have a plane to catch, we hop onto a Grab to go back to the hotel after lunch. Upon returning to the hotel, we packed our loots into our luggage and booked a Grab Van to take us to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. We were lucky as the Grab Van came rather quickly after we booked. We managed to reach the airport at 3pm, 2 hours before our flight at 5.15pm.

We took Thai Airways TG-249 from Bangkok to Krabi. However, I was worn out by the weather and slept throughout the entire duration of the 1 hour flight, even skipping the snack that was served.

We touched down at Krabi Airport around 6.30pm, and found our airport pick-up to send us to our resort. For our Krabi accomodation, we stayed at Aonang Buri Resort which is along Aonang Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Krabi.

Waiting to check in to our room

Personal rating: 8.5/10. The room is spacious and clean, with a balcony facing the pool and a rack for us to hang and dry our clothes. They even fold the towels into the shape of an elephant, cute!

Superior Room for 2

After unpacking our luggage in our rooms, we then decided to head out for dinner at Aonang Night Market. I guess that all of us were exhausted from the morning at Chatuchak that we headed to the wrong direction initially. We were supposed to turn left from our hotel but instead, we went the “right” direction. There’s another market there which we thought was Aonang Night Market but it wasn’t.

The wrong Aonang Night Market we went to have a pretty cool ferris wheel

We then made our way towards the real Aonang Night Market.

The night market was a tad dissapointing. We thought that it would be like the night markets in Bangkok which are big and full of stalls selling many different unique items and food, but instead, they only have a few food stalls opened.

Thai prata with cheese, top with condensed milk. Sinfully good!

While we were eating, it started drizzling. We quickly gobbled down our food and head back to our resort for an early night, as we had to get up early in the morning the next day.
